In ‘Can-Can’, Deirdre teases the eye by alternating dark and light shades – twenty altogether – and inverts the grading of each colour. Dramatic colour choices are offset by a black wool background. Deirdre says “The colours are beautiful and showy and reminded me of the Can-Can girls’ uniformity and kicking legs, so this title seemed perfect. The combination of colour and angles makes the lower half appear to come forward”.
