A BESPOKE VERSION OF DEIRDRE DYSON’S BURLESQUE TOGETHER WITH A CUSTOM GRADED CARPET IN ADJOINING ROOMS
This typically Parisian pied-à-terre is full of wonderful original features-parquet flooring, large windows, and restrained, classically proportioned joinery and cornicing.
The owner, an avid collector, has treated these classical details with a light touch, using them as the perfect backdrop for an eclectic mix of contemporary art and furniture. To this light-filled space, she wanted to introduce texture, subtle colour, and a sense of luxury-achieved through two custom Deirdre Dyson hand knotted carpets that connect the bedroom to its adjoining sitting room.
For the sitting room, Deirdre Dyson recommended a restrained ombré design. Rendered in 100% wool, it became SUNBLUSH, fluidly transitioning from a soft blush pink into a light sage green.
A bordered rug design is always a good choice for a bedroom, so a custom version of BURLESQUE was created in a tonal palette of taupe and beige silks on a cream wool ground. The carpet lends the room a calm, luminescent quality, giving the carefully chosen artworks space to breathe whilst adding an inviting softness underfoot.
Because the enfilade allows both carpets to be seen at once, it was essential that each worked beautifully within its own room while still speaking to the other. Deirdre achieved this through careful colour selection: the two carpets don’t match, but exist in quiet harmony, connecting the spaces and completing the refined décor.
