Layers of slides describing the colour change when overlapping and creating a third dimension. In several of this years’ designs but particularly SQUARE CUTS, Deirdre employs overlayed squares and rectangles of pastel colour, creating ‘new’ colours in the converging areas whilst adding a translucent quality by using lustrous silk. To add to this ‘layered’ effect Deirdre has cut out the carpet so the edges are shaped for added impact.
SQUARE CUTS references an earlier design, OVERLAY but Deirdre’s candy-hued colour selection creates a very different iteration of the design.
