In the largest carpet in this year’s collection, Deirdre uses opposing bars of overlapping silks which suspend and repel in equal measure. Silk is used to create the impression of transparency on a wool ground. Making pastel colours recede in intensity and using silk as light to create an illusion of floating rectangles.
