Deirdre Dyson reveals four 25th Anniversary celebratory designs
Having already revealed this year’s award winning ‘Light Play’ collection, fine artist Deirdre Dyson celebrates her 25th Anniversary be releasing re-workings of four favourite rug designs – CARNIVAL, SUNLIT, SLIVERS and POOL OF LIGHT.
The striking quartet are cornerstone Deirdre Dyson designs now reimagined in vibrant new colourways, each is totally transformed by a different colour palette.
SLIVERS is dramatically graded with 36 different hues of red, rust and pink wools and silks to give a three-dimensional effect.
Three of the new designs SLIVERS, SUNLIT and CARNIVAL integrate fine silk elements, adding a tactile twist to the exquisite wool creations whilst POOL OF LIGHT is hand knotted in 100% wool for a luxurious depth of colour in verdant shades of green.
Deirdre says: “I love having a chance to play with colour, so for me the challenge of reinventing these much-loved designs for my 25th anniversary was pure joy. Slivers and Pool of Light both have simple organic shapes at the centre, and I played with colour in the overlapping areas to make them interesting, sticking to a simpler colour palette for Slivers to give it a new edge. I like bringing fluidity and movement into my designs and have always been inspired by the beauty of water. I alternated coloured wools and silks, in cerulean and sapphire blues for the special version of Sunlit. Ribbons are a favourite design motif and I was excited to reinvent Carnival – one of my most popular designs – to create a moodier version.”
This capsule collection will join the main 2025 collection ‘Light Play’ on display in Deirdre’s London gallery from September. The stunning ‘Light Play’ designs focus on the interplay of light through colour, geometry and form. Six designs (SEARCH LIGHT, PIN POINT and PANELS (Grey), SQUARE CUTS, LES ROUGES and ROCK POOL plus the large-scale SUSPENSE) can be enjoyed in all their glory hanging in Deirdre’s gallery on the King’s Road, London. In Deirdre’s Parisian gallery on Rue des Saints-Pères, PANELS (Green), TOTEM, PLAYTIME, JELLY, FACETS, AGRO and LES ROUGES are now exhibited.
