Deirdre Dyson’s GLASSY GREENS hand knotted rug now on display at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour

Just in time for this year’s FOCUS/26 ‘On Design’ event, GLASSY GREENS — a favourite from this year’s Melange collection — replaces SLIVERS in our dedicated showcase in the Design Avenue at Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour, just a few minutes’ walk from our 554 Kings Road gallery.
GLASSY GREENS is a trompe l’oeil carpet inspired by Deirdre’s view of a cupboard with glass shelves, each holding a centrally placed box in satisfying, considered geometry. Delicate sea green silks create the illusion of floating shelves balancing rectangular forms in contrasting muted tones, while the refracting qualities of silk add extraordinary depth and luminosity to this timeless design.
A sophisticated choice for a home study or library, GLASSY GREENS also makes a dramatic focal point in a reception room or hotel lobby. It suits contemporary and transitional interiors equally, and its quiet geometry and cool palette make it a natural complement to minimalist, Scandinavian, and mid-century modern schemes.

Our friends at Argile have once again supplied the perfect backdrop: the clay green Vert de Moneteau, chosen by Deirdre to complement GLASSY GREENS’ pared-back tones, with Noir de Rome used on the loom the carpet is displayed on.
Come see the carpet in situ during FOCUS, then visit us at 554 Kings Road afterwards!
