The perfect blank canvas, Pantone Cloud Dancer, 11-4201 is the colour for 2026

Pantone Cloud Dancer

Edison gives his take on Pantone‘s Colour of the Year for 2026.

Whilst Deirdre Dyson is known for celebrating and harmonising more vibrant colours, many of her designs incorporate this type of subtle, lofty off-white that creates a calming influence, often wedged in between other tones.

Like a breath of fresh air, this is a perfect white(ish) neutralising colour that adds softness and lightness, without being overly cool.

According to Pantone, Cloud Dancer 11-4201 inspires us towards quiet reflection and helps us find peace amongst the current storms within the turbulency of the world of today.

Our LINEAR LOOPS rug design is the perfect combination of a soft, warm white acting as a background for the earthy, spiralling lines in pale coffee colours and beige/grey. This creates a playful, yet very simple milky button of softness that will blend perfectly into an all-white room.

Deirdre Dyson’s AIRBORNE captures the gentle movement of air, the floating triangles overlapping in the greyness of the void. Like kites or paper planes, there is a weightlessness in the composition, with the off-white triangles giving ‘breathing space’ and a point of lightness between the other pale triangles all vying to occupy the same space.

FLIGHT captures the movement of a bird in mid-flight, surrounded by the air currents created by the movement of its wings. The silhouettes and lines are in fact a pale grey silk but appear lighter and whiter, due to the highly reflective qualities of natural silk. In contrast with the pale, sky-blue wool background, this complex design appears strikingly neutral and dreamlike.

But soft-white doesn’t always mean ‘low-key’. ENERGY is the complete antithesis of that. Whilst this design lives up to its name, the momentum is pulled back just a tad by the introduction of the pale white wool interluding bars. This allows some ‘break space’ for this highly deconstructed, complex design, providing just enough ‘calm’ without becoming lazy!
