Why Visit in Person?

Browsing online is a natural starting point, and Deirdre Dyson’s Design Library offers a wealth of visual inspiration.  Though beautiful to look at and an essential research tool, a two-dimensional image on screen can’t convey the true attributes of a hand knotted rug such as depth of colour, fluidity of a tonal grade and essentially the dense luxury of Tibetan wool together with the lustre of pure silk. All best experienced in person. Visiting the gallery transforms a purchase from a transaction into a a tangible, considered and creative process, crucially employing all the senses.

A Gallery Designed Around Carpets

Deirdre Dyson’s Kings Road gallery was designed by architect Timothy Hatton specifically to showcase Lady Dyson’s hand-knotted rug designs. Hand-patinated steel, stone floors, and a striking cube of glass bricks (London’s first when it was built) create an intentionally contrasting backdrop: the raw and industrial set against the luxurious and tactile. The space allows each carpet to speak for itself, giving visitors the scope to explore a variety of designs and develop an instinct for what will work in their own interior.
