Fondazione Prada, Milan

Whilst in Milan for this year’s iSalone, Edison visited the Fondazione Prada.

The Foundation itself has existed for over twenty years however the initial phase of the vast new ‘cultural complex’ in a former distillery only opened last year.

Not quite on the tourist map just yet, this gem of an exhibition space really is worth a detour to see – Edison found some exhibits quite unsettling but his wonderful images give an idea of the scope and scale of the buildings and collection.

The gilded ‘Haunted House‘ is a permanent installation by Robert Gober which was part of the original distillery. It looks deceptively inviting shimmering in the Italian sunshine but contains challenging exhibits, including works by Louise Bourgeois.

‘The Giacometti Variations’ are sculptures inspired by Giacometti but designed by John Baldessari to create an immobile fashion show (the clothes were also designed by Baldessari rather than Prada as you’d assume)
