Creation of our designs is a highly individual process and each carpet is created from scratch.
From ideas and sketches, the design is conceived.
Through careful development and expert knowledge, the design is devised.
And finally with meticulous care and ancient craft, the design is created.

Pricing
Since each carpet is totally bespoke and can vary in design and size, each one is priced on an individual basis by the square metre, according to complexity of design and method of production.

AN EXCITING AND CREATIVE PROCESS
Commissioning a Deirdre Dyson design is an exciting process, but one which is also highly professional, befitting of our clients.
Step 1 of 5: INSPIRATION
This website will give you a good idea of the sheer range of designs which have been produced over the years, and just how accomplished and versatile they can be, for any environment.
But there’s no substitute for seeing the real thing in the flesh. For this reason we’ve created a London showroom to act as a gallery, to convey the scale and tactile quality of our designs.
Come and have a look, and be inspired.
You will be able to gauge the sheer beauty of the colours, the depth of the pile and the intricacies of the hand made designs.
Edison, our Company Manager, will be delighted to help you, and will ably answer any questions you may have. We often have showroom events, for launching new collections or for particular events. If you would like to come along then let us know and we will extend an official invitation to you.

We’ve transformed our showroom into a gallery for our designs, to convey their scale and their beautiful colours. Seeing and feeling these will help you galvanise your ideas and opinions, and experience their extraordinary quality and tactile nature first hand.
SHOWROOM EVENTS
We occasionally hold events and private views at our showroom, often to herald the launch of a new collection. It's a chance to see new designs first hand.
Step 2 of 5: CONSULTATION
Make an appointment for a professional design consultation.
We will work with you on design selection and advise on colour matching to any samples of fabric, paint etc. Every aspect is tailored to your individual space.
As well as the design, we will discuss the production method best suited to your needs and preferences.
This determines whether the carpet should be hand tufted or hand knotted.
Home visits are also offered (within M25 area).
ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE
With over two thousand beautiful colours from which to choose, the selection can seem daunting. However, we are very experienced in matching colours to complement the environment in which your design will eventually reside. And we are happy to advise on which designs will best create the desired mood and impression you wish to create.
HAND CRAFTED
Hand knotting is an ancient craft demanding time, patience and expertise. Hand tufting offers untold possibilities of texture, colour and design. This method allows infinite innovation. Up to 20 colours can be mixed together at once, or single threads implanted. Texture can be created from shag to velvet, carved to uncarved, cut to loop, threads thick to thin.
Step 3 of 5: DESIGN
We will produce initial artwork to your specification and approval.
This process continues until the final design is agreed.
DESIGN
Deirdre Dyson's designs can be commissioned, enabling architects, specifiers, interior designers, and private clients to compliment their surroundings or corporate identity.
Our exquisitely crafted hand made carpets are our speciality but we can also provide pass machine carpets for large scale contract projects.
Step 4 of 5: APPROVAL
We produce a final image of your carpet in the selected colours and proportion for your own personal reference.
ORIGINAL HAND PAINTED ARTWORK
The design is devised by Deirdre through her sketches and paintings.
COMPUTER GENERATED ARTWORK FOR APPROVAL
The painted design is translated into artwork by computer for the supplier.
Your design begins it’s transposition from two dimensions to three.
THE FINISHED CARPET
When the approved design makes the transformation from computer to carpet, the magic really begins to take place.
And because we are able to marry advanced technology in the approval stages with the hand crafted traditions of the production stage, the finished design always realises our expectations of colour and shape.
Step 5 of 5: ORDERING
The order is placed with a 50% deposit.
PRICING: Each bespoke carpet is priced by the square metre, according to complexity of design and method of production.

The order is placed with a 50% deposit. Delivery is approximately 10-14 weeks from order to delivery, depending on complexity and size. We can also arrange for a carpet to be fitted, for instance for stair runners, if required.
GOODWEAVE
Deirdre Dyson is proud to subscribe to Goodweave, the international non-profit organisation working to end child labour in South Asia’s carpet industry.
Goodweave works to rescue, rehabilitate, educate and provide vocational training for illegally employed child workers, to help them towards a better future.
HAND CRAFTED
Our exquisitely crafted hand made carpets are our speciality but we can also provide pass machine carpets for large scale contract projects.
The wool is carefully produced using time honoured methods, and meticulous attention.
Two main methods are used, hand knotting and hand tufting.
DYEING
Our carpets are made with pure Tibetan wool from a range of over 2000 hand dyed colours.
Time honoured materials and techniques are used to turn the raw materials into a myriad of colours ready to create beautiful designs from.
HAND KNOTTING
Hand knotting is an ancient craft demanding time, patience and expertise. Our carpets are made with pure Tibetan wool from a range of over 1500 colours. For pure indulgence, silk can be incorporated into any design. This adds vibrancy or a subtle shimmer to each carpet with a sumptuous texture that is incomparable. Our Nepalese suppliers are passionate about our designs and take pride in the quality of their work. These carpets can be made in approximately 14 weeks depending on size and design.
