THE DESIGN PROCESS

Having decided which method to use, hand knotting or hand tufting, the first step in the design process is to select a group of colours that work well together.

The colours themselves often dictate the design - cool, calm and still or hot, vibrant and active. Ideas follow.

Then the drawing begins with blank paper and pencil. The design begins to develop, adding and eliminating, juggling and balancing until a final solution is reached that has perfect harmony.

The painted design is translated into artwork by computer for the supplier.
